USDA Supports Specialty Crops Producers with Direct Payments for Losses Due to COVID-19

As part of the Coronavirus Farm Assistance Program, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced that it will provide up to $2.1 billion in direct payments to specialty crops producers. The payments will be based on losses where prices and market supply chains have been impacted and will help producers facing additional adjustment and marketing costs resulting from lost demand and short-term oversupply for the 2020 marketing year as a result of COVID-19.

Price Gouging

Price Gouging

Are you a Victim?

Do you suspect that you may have been a victim of price gouging?

Under California Penal Code 396, individuals, businesses and other entities are prohibited from raising the price of major necessities (food, drink, water, flashlights, medical supplies, antibacterial products, etc.) by more than 10% for 30 days after a declaration of emergency.

Similarly, Riverside County Ordinance 768 states that it is unlawful for any person, company, or business to sell or offer to sell emergency items (consumer food, emergency/medical supplies, or gasoline) for an amount which exceeds 10% the price charged for said goods on the day prior to the emergency proclamation.

A violation of this code or ordinance can result in fines and possible jailtime.

CDFA PRESS RELEASE: HUANGLONGBING DETECTION IN RIVERSIDE COUNTY

QUARANTINE EXPANDED IN PORTIONS OF RIVERSIDE, ORANGE, AND SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES

A quarantine has been declared following the detection of the citrus disease Huanglongbing (HLB), or citrus greening, in multiple residential citrus trees within the City of Corona, Riverside County.  The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Riverside County, Orange County, and San Bernardino County agricultural commissioners, and the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) are working collaboratively on this project.

The 107-square mile quarantine area will link up with the east side of the existing quarantine in Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange, and San Bernardino counties, creating a contiguous 1,127-square-mile area. The new portion is bordered on the north by Chino Airport, on the south by Black Star Canyon, and on the east by Interstate 15.  HLB quarantine maps are available online at: https://www.cdfa.ca.gov/plant/hlb/regulation.html.

Private Applicator Certification (PAC) Information

Private Applicator Study Guide Links

The Private Applicator Certification (PAC) examination is available in both English and Spanish. The only part of the Spanish examination written in English is the pesticide label. Federal law requires all certified applicators to be able to read and understand the registered labeling. In the United States most pesticide labels are only written in English.
